Quality visitors Equip'Baie/Métal Expo took place at Paris Expo from 18 to 21 November, turning the spotlight on ways to improve buildings' energy efficiency, safety and comfort. The two exhibitions came together at a single venue, with 445 stands over an area of 48,000 m2 presenting a comprehensive offer of joinery, structural openings, automation, solar protection and metal products (metal doors and windows, fittings, metalwork, iron and ironwork). The exhibitions are entirely in tune with the aims of the Grenelle Environment Forum and perfectly aligned with current environmental concerns - this was without doubt a major motivation for the shows' visitors, who were unanimously agreed to be of a very high quality. Indeed despite the tough economic situation Equip'Baie/Métal Expo welcomed 24,420 visitors, with an overall visitor profile broadly similar to the previous session in terms of geographic origin and activity sector. International visitors accounted for 9.8% of the total, despite the threat of strikes in the air transport sector. With a multitude of new products on show, many of them designed to deliver significant improvements in energy performance for both new-build and renovation projects, in a market boosted by current tax incentives, Equip'Baie/Métal Expo confirmed their status as a prestigious professional event attracting visitors of the highest quality across all categories: developers, specifiers, major contractors, distributors, manufacturers, businesses and specialist craftsmen. Equip'Baie/Métal Expo: driving outstanding performance Equip'Baie/Métal Expo once again confirmed their unique positioning as an unrivalled meeting place for exchanging information, building partnerships and sharing expertise. A programme of talks tackling key current issues gave visitors the opportunity to share their views, challenge preconceptions and identify the latest economic trends. The performance awards - a major new event and a highlight of the show - proved a great success, turning the spotlight on manufacturers' innovations in the fields of energy efficiency, ventilation and solar protection, security/safety, accessibility and comfort. No less than 44 products and applications were entered for the awards. Six of these were selected for performance awards, one of which received a special commendation for Safety. There was also a special Web users' award. "This 6th session of Métal Expo confirmed one of the exhibition's key functions - it is increasingly a vital meeting place and discussion forum for the various partners of the Union des Métalliers (French metal-workers' association) and the leading players in the sector. Métal Expo is a genuine B2B exhibition, enabling our exhibitors to welcome all the various decisionmakers: quantity surveyors, design offices, businesses - while they in turn highly value this showcase of manufacturers' expertise and technical innovations. All in all we were satisfied with the quality of the contacts and the high level of motivation they displayed. This year once again Métal Expo presented to all the show's professional visitors the initiatives undertaken by the Union des Métalliers, which is constantly updating its technical, training and communications offer in accordance with changing needs and expectations. These positive benefits have been gaining in importance from one session to the next." This enabled us to promote and showcase our comprehensive, top-level offer which complies with both current and future standards." Visitor numbers were high and we were very happy with the quality as they included developers, project managers and professional clients, providing us with many leads. In all we welcomed 25% more visitors than in 2006, and our visitor flow was clearly boosted by a large number of major new products - Visionergie, Venineo, Insectidoor and the Star range - accompanied by a major publicity campaign in the run-up to the show. All the same it wasn't a foregone conclusion because we'd opted for a bold choice in terms of our stand, which was deliberately very 'closed' in appearance, with lots of new products and innovations to discover inside.
