Rooted in current building developments, and focusing this year on the two key themes of the RT 2012 (2012 thermal regulations) and their drive for improved energy performance and the accessibility of buildings, the prospects for équipbaie métalexpo 2010 are already looking good despite the current economic situation. The reason for this is that the majority of its exhibitors are heavily involved in the renovation market, which has suffered less than that for new building.

With four months to go until the opening of the show, 280 stands have already been booked. In recent weeks a number of major players (Hoppe, Warema, Geze, Profelco, Eveno Fermetures) have joined them, and announcements of plans to exhibit by several more leading companies will be made shortly, suggesting a total of in the region of 320 stands.

For exhibitors, équipbaie métalexpo 2010 is a real opportunity to forge contacts and to raise their profile. The show is an event anticipated by an entire profession and this year it is staging a number of activities relating to the specification process.

This exhibitor commitment reflects a consistency in their communications and their loyalty to the show and the result is that, despite the economic situation, the average stand size is identical to that of 2008.

Internationally, the economic crisis has differed in the impact it has had on participation by individual countries at équipbaie métalexpo 2010: Italy, which accounts for 1,700 to 1,800m2, with a 20% fall that is lower than forecast, Germany, with a forecast 1,600m2, which is a drop of just 10%, and a pleasant surprise from Spain, which, despite its economic difficulties, should be slightly up on its 2008 total with close to 1,000m2.

As an indication of just how very much a part of its profession the show is, it also hosts a programme of some thirty lectures and round tables aimed at both visitors and exhibitors that is built around the themes of the RT 2012 and Accessibility. With speakers who are recognized experts, decision makers, who are drawn from the relevant trade associations or who are reporting their experience of pioneering work, these talks are very much geared to the current situation, its problems and are designed to shed light, to stimulate dialogue and to encourage exchanges between professionals. Lectures and discussions will deal with the evolution of technologies and the equally important evolution of construction practices, which have been given considerable impetus by the Grenelle de l’environnement (French environment initiative).

One of the goals of this year’s équipbaie métalexpo is to develop dialogue with specifiers and a series of discussions aimed specifically at architects and project managers has therefore been put together and scheduled for 17th 18th November. Well-known practices will present current projects, sometimes together with a manufacturer, in which the façade and openings have played a key role combining technical features and aesthetics.

Performance... at the heart of the show

The Performance Awards are being staged for the second time and will bring together and provide recognition for the top technical innovations in each of the activities relating to openings and their fittings as well as the various uses of metal in construction.

The Performance Awards ceremony, hosted by Jérôme Bonaldi, will take place at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday 16th November and will be one of the show’s high points.
