    Accutane Results Discussion

    User: SunnySideUp (12:47 PM)

Hey everyone! I've been on Accutane for four months now. My dermatologist prescribed it after trying multiple other treatments with little success. It seems like my skin has finally started to clear up, but there are still some bumps and redness here and there. How long did it take others for their skin to fully recover? Any tips or experiences you'd like to share?

Hi SunnySideUp! I was on Accutane a couple of years ago, so I can definitely relate to what you're going through. It took me about six months before my skin really started to clear up significantly. The redness and bumps are common side effects, especially in the first few months. Make sure you're using a gentle cleanser and moisturizer daily. Sunscreen is also crucial as Accutane makes your skin more sensitive to sunlight.

Thanks DermFanatic! I have been using a very mild cleanser, but the redness still worries me sometimes. Do you think it's okay if I use aloe vera gel? My friend recommended it, and she swears by it.

Absolutely, SunnySideUp! Aloe vera can be great for soothing irritated skin. It has natural anti-inflammatory properties that may help reduce redness and irritation. Just make sure to get a pure form with no added fragrances or chemicals, as those might irritate your skin further.

Hey SunnySideUp! I've also been on Accutane for four months now. The first three months were rough, but the past month has shown some significant improvement. My dermatologist advised me to stay away from any harsh products and stick with a simple skincare routine. For redness, she suggested using a very light moisturizer twice daily.

Thanks CalmBreeze! It’s comforting to hear that improvements come gradually. I guess it takes patience. Any tips on handling the side effects like dry mouth and nose? Those have been pretty annoying for me lately.

    User: DermFanatic (1:20 PM)

Oh, SunnySideUp, those are definitely some of the most common side effects. For dry mouth and nose, make sure you're staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day. Using a humidifier can also help keep your nasal passages moist, especially at night while you sleep. Lip balm is a must too – something with a good amount of petrolatum or beeswax to lock in moisture.

    User: CalmBreeze (1:25 PM)

Absolutely agree with DermFanatic! Drinking lots of water and using a humidifier really helped me manage the dryness. Also, make sure you're eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids like salmon or walnuts – they can help keep your skin hydrated from within.

Thanks for all the tips! I'll definitely try to stay more hydrated and see if that helps. It's nice to know there are ways to manage these side effects while still getting the benefits of Accutane.

You're welcome, SunnySideUp! Remember, everyone’s experience with Accutane can be different, but staying consistent with your skincare routine and following your dermatologist's advice will help you manage the side effects better. If you ever feel overwhelmed or notice any severe side effects, don’t hesitate to reach out to your doctor.

    User: CalmBreeze (1:38 PM)

Definitely! Patience is key here. Your skin might not clear up overnight, but with time and proper care, it will improve. Good luck on your journey!

Thank you both so much for the encouragement and advice! I feel a lot better knowing that there are ways to manage the side effects and that improvements can still be made. Here's hoping my skin clears up soon.
